Lafayette, Indiana; April 7, 2008-Unity Surgical Center, an outpatient multi-specialty surgical center, is successfully performing new minimally invasive surgical techniques for total knee and hip joint replacement. Only performed nationally by a small group of accomplished orthopaedic surgeons, this technique is one of the most recent innovations for joint replacements.
Typical knee and hip replacement surgery requires six to twelve weeks for patients to fully recover from what has been, historically, a traumatic surgical procedure. The PATH technique is designed to include a smaller incision and muscle sparing approach to knee and hip replacement surgery.
